Frequently asked questions

Are you my primary care provider?

No. I was trained in primary care and practiced it for years but functional medicine is a specialty. My experience as a PCP means I know how to talk to your PCP, whether they are an MD, DO, ND, NP, PA or DC.

Do you take insurance?

No. Although I am looking into HSA/FSA usage as I understand this may be an option for some in the near future.

Why not?

Mostly because I don’t like being told what I can and can’t do! I especially don’t like being told what to do by someone who focus is, by design, on profit rather than health. Additionally, when insurance companies deny a request, they send a lot of paperwork for appeals…I would rather spend my time talking to YOU.

Testing can be expensive…do I need it?

Testing can be a useful tool, but it is not required. In order to keep your costs to a minimum, I prefer to start with one test that best addresses your primary concern(s) and we’ll work together from there to determine if more are needed down the road.

Should I take supplements?

Maybe. Some people benefit greatly from supplements; most people at least need a good multivitamin/multimineral. We SHOULD be able to get all of the nutrients we need from our food and 50 years ago, that was possible. Unfortunately, the rise of monoculture and increased exposure to environmental toxins has created a food system (and people) deficient in many of our required nutrients. We’ll discuss and determine together the best options for your health.
